Greeting one and all...
🥁🥁🥁
...to the Tekken 8 preview series! For now, we are still doing these. We'll see for how long. 😁 Right now we are covering the essential protagonist of the Tekken franchise. He's a bad boy, he's edgy, he's an angel and a demon. Many people's favorite - Jin Kazama.
Character Name: Jin Kazama First Appearance: Tekken 3 Nationality: Japanese Fighting Style: Karate
My introduction to Jin was the same as everyone else's - Tekken 3. And I loved him from jump street. So cool, and so fun to watch and play. But hard, always a difficult character to get a hold of. But his appeal has always been evident even to the casual eye. But if you get to master him? One of the most rewarding fighting game characters out there. 💯
He really is! 🕺 Let's talk about him!

🔷 GAMEPLAY TRAILER 🔶
With Jin, we have a bit of a unique situation, as we have 2 trailers that feature him! Our boy is back in the spotlight after being largely MIA in Tekken 7. Now, he is back to challenge his father and finally bring an end to the evil devil gene. So naturally the announcement trailer will feature him and his pops. 🎥
And then we have the actual character spotlight. One of the worse spotlights in my opinion, as it is just a rehash of Kazuya's that came the week before. 🤷♂️ Regardless, most of the Tekken showcases are amazing, and Jin is doing a lot more in his.
As you can see he is a lot more flashy. A lot more dive kicks, spins, and twirls that Jin didn't really do. he looks a lot like a Street Fighter character now. 😂 Not saying it's good or bad just saying it's different. And there's of course a key feature in both of the trailers we just watched that we will cover presently. // you like how i used presently there? Love that word, should use it more often

🔷 APPEARANCE 🔶
Jin has always looked cool. But I think it's ironic that he looked the coolest in Tekken 3. Which of course was his introduction. Since then he's been coasting with his coolness, with Tekken 7 being the exception as I really didn't like how he looked in that one. Tekken 7 just wasn't kind to the emo boy.
What's neat here is that his outfit incorporates elements from a lot of Jin eras. We have his classic colors along with his mother's - Jun's - colors sprinkled in there. Jun is coming back in Tekken 8, so it makes sense that we have some sort of reunion with the too.
FYI: I'm super hyped for the story in this one. Which is saying a lot considering Tekken's overall story. 😁
Jin's barks are a miss for me though. He was so much more aggressive and assertive in previous games. Whereas here he is more quiet than anything. Not a fan personally. But I understand the choice as here we have a much more moderate and present Jin. He has become zen! And conquered the devil!
His rage art is short and simple. Just how I like them. But considering all the other over-the-top rage arts we have been shown it's a bit tame and might make people feel like it's a letdown.
But yes, Jin has conquered the devil. Evident by all the wing stuff happening in many of his moves. The red eye as well! This is a super cool development IMO. I've been wondering if this would ever happen since I was a kid. Now that it is, and I'm a lot older and more jaded, I'm kinda meh to it. 😅
But Nah, I might not be as hyped as I would when I was a kid, but it's still super dope to see. And a welcome change for the character. I am very curious how this title concludes, and whether we will just not have Devil Jin in this one.

🔷 NEW TECH 🔶
Jin has a bunch of new moves. And like we aforementioned, they are all flashy. He has this crazy d2 that is busted right now. Recoverable, crazy to see, not lunch punishable, and leads to a guaranteed follow-up. It's nuts. Probably the best move in the game right now.
This is all from the network test, however, so most likely would be changed before release. Please God. 🙏

Other than that he has a lot of Devil Jin moves. Fun but I also liked Devil Jin in the roster, is he just gone now? Who knows. I doubt it but it's possible.
Another thing worth mentioning is that Jin has lost his complexity. He is a baby-mode character now, like most of the other characters. They have all been simplified. A lot of people are up in arms about this, but I think it's a good idea. Tekken is already hard as is. What with the movement and the over 100 moves per character? The game's ceiling won't fall, its floor will just rise. In my opinion at least. I'm a blue ranks player so what do I know? 😀

Thank you for reading, you rock! (and maybe roll) 👏👏👏
Shout-out to the 🍕PIZZA🍕 gang, 🤙 gang. 🤙
If this post does well we will feature Kazuya next. Actually, even if it doesn't we'll feature pops me thinks. He is enough of an established character, and I know enough about him to have a good article written. So be on the lookout for that one
