...to the Tekken 8 preview series! - Azucena. The first, and so far only, new character introduced to the vast Tekken roster. Azucena provides a fresh and dynamic-looking fighting style that has set the Tekken fanbase a blaze. Yes, her character might be a bit over the top. But I pose to you this question Tekken nerds, what Tekken character isn't? 😁

Everyone was wondering what the original character for Tekken 8 would be. As the initial reveal happened, the roller coaster of emotions was palpable. However, by the end of the presentation, almost everyone's doubts were turned to curiosity. Yes, the coffee thing is overdone. ☕ But I doubt we will focus on it much once the fighting starts. Her style is so unique and fresh and interesting that that's what the discourse will be about.

🔷 GAMEPLAY TRAILER 🔶
For once, we get only one trailer to talk about. 😅 I know that has become a running joke in this series, but I don't think we have another instance of two trailers. All the other fighters only have their one introductory gameplay trailer. Azucena's also features her stage, which displays Peruvian culture at its forefront. I find this super cool. Give it a watch! 🎥
Her personality definitely takes center stage. 😁 I still feel like she fits the roster perfectly. She is a Tekken character through and through. I also love the stage. One wall break leading into a floor break has always been a favored combination of mine. Her style and wardrobe as well, super cool if nothing else. But let's discuss it in more detail.

🔷 APPEARANCE 🔶
Azucena certainly looks the part. Whenever I see a character wearing sneakers I know they are ready to rumble. I love her hair and her obvious Peruvian influence. It seems like they've gone above and beyond to make this character appreciate its homeland. This has been hit or miss in the past. With Josie not really doing it for Filipino fans, or Katarina for Brazilian fans. I am certain that Peruvian fans will love Azucena.
Now, some of you might say that the coffee thing is a caricature of Peruvian culture. And to an extent, I could see that argument. But I think it does more good than harm. Most people only see the negative nowadays, choosing to be offended on someone else's behalf. From the YouTube reactions I've seen, Peruvian people love it. Frankly, that's all that should matter.
I also love her animations, her movement is silky smooth. The lines of her attacks just look amazing. And her stance (which we'll dive into in detail in the next section) just gives off this cocky vibe that I love. I adore characters that are cocky and can back it back. 😀
The Rage Art I'd say is one of the better ones. I love that she is so frenetic that she jump-scares the other opponent. The last line of 'How do you take your coffee' I would honestly remove. 😁 Even though I've said that it's not a big deal, that line just doesn't make any sense. I hate it, and I wish it wasn't there. But the rest of the presentation is top-notch.

🔷 NEW TECH 🔶
The title of this section should just be 'Tech' as there is nothing new to talk about per se. This is a new character, and so no one really knows what's going on. We will get to test her in the new Closed Network Test coming in a month. But until then we are all guessing. 🤷♀️ Granted, calculated guesses, but guesses nonetheless.
The first thing you will notice is that she flows into this stance that seems to evade every attack thrown at her. I have no idea how this would work, honestly. There have been stances in the past that only evade certain attacks. I would assume this is one of those. But the footage we saw shows her evading literally everything. So I'm not sure about the minutia of this stance.
There seem to be several moves that lead to this stance. As well as a natural activation. This is par for the course as other already established characters. As for her other moves, she has a lot of influence. Some Eddy, some Josie, some Katarina. I like how most of her moves look in any case, they are powerful while being stylish. My favorite combination.
One thing is for certain - she will be annoying to fight against. I will for sure give her a try once I'm able. Something about her moveset just speaks to me, and she looks fun and cool. That's one I need in General!

So we covered the new kid on the block. What's next? 😅 A question for the ages. I'll tell you this much. It will be between Law and Brian. Those two have seen considerable redesigns that most people are not supportive of. So a discussion on those points could prove fruitful. There's also Paul's hair. That's an easy target as well. 😁 Until then!
