Leslie slammed her body weight against the door. "I'll hold them off. Go!"

"No! Leslie!"

"Come on, Jin! We have to run!"

"But Les-"

"Jin, you fool!" Leslie was screaming at him. "Don't you get it? If they -"

A disfigured hand burst through the metal plated door like it was cardboard. It grabbed Leslie's throat, pressing it against the door, pressing. Until -

Jin ran, he couldn't see Leslie's... he couldn't see. All he heard was a weak squish behind him as he left the infirmary's tunnel. He tried to think productively - but Leslie's bloodied, scared face kept screaming.

"Where do we go now, Sam?" And screaming.

Sam was clearly pushing herself, she pointed towards a ladder halfway down a shaft. Jin jumped to bring the rest of the thing down. Once they were inside the shaft he heard them at the bottom. He mustn't look down...

The ladder went to the roof. Outside was nothing but putrid smells and stinging smoke. The city burned, the world burned, and Leslie was gone. She screamed for me to run, but her eyes at the end... they pleaded. She was asking for my help and I left her! Jin kicked a box, disturbing a flight of startled pigeons. Good. He hated the damned things.

"Easy there, cowboy." Sam was grabbing her knees, breathing through her shirt. "Leslie knew what she was doing. And even if she didn't - she still knew more than you. So get your head straight and think how we're gonna reach that helipad."

"First it was Ben." Jin paced around the carnage. "Then it was get to the hospital. Then it was get to the roof. Then Leslie... Now the roof is in shambles. What now Sam? Hmm? How do we go anywhere in this hell?"

Sam made a calming gesture. "We... walk to that side of the building, drop to that platform there, you see it?" She pointed, a stable force in a dying world. "Then we jump to the convenience store, find some supplies... Go from there."

Leslie's eyes... begging for help... I left her...

"Jin! We have to move they are coming!"

Her eyes...

Sam slapped him so hard Jin tasted blood. Once he came to, he followed her above the platform, dropped down, then prepared to jump.

"You can do this, Jin." Sam said calmly. She was so strong, Jin almost believed her. "If not for yourself, you idiot, do it for Les." Jin gulped, seeing her face once more. "Did she die for a sad puppy dog mourning its master? Or did she mean anything to you?

"Did she die for nothing?"

"No." He said it before he thoguht it. He saw her, smiling and winking. For her, yes. He would live. For her.

Jin jumped, descending into utter chaos, and the end of all things.
